This is how I used it on one of my own images:
This is the original image
This is the textured version
The blend mode used was Multiply @ 100% and then a levels adjustment layer was added. In the levels palette I moved the white slider from 255 to 185 to brighten the image. Then I just flattened and saved the file! I quite like the aged vintage look the texture has given the image.

So cool that you are making your own textures, Evelyn. I love what you've done in both this post and the last. I see you've made a new header.
