Shabby Chic St. Ives

The photo frames in the above image I bought for 50p (about $0.80) each in a local charity shop. They were just simple plain wood. I gave them several coats of paint and then sanded them for a shabby chic look. I really like the finished effect. I put some prints of my own images in the frames and they sit on top of my cupboard in my work room. I then decided to photograph them with some vintage lace and linen.

All three images are available for licensing at

During the latter half of June I made the brave bold step of terminating my contract with Getty Images and decided to "go it alone" and license my images myself.

I now have a great new website powered by Photoshelter. It's called DAYDREAMING IMAGES and you can find it at

 Daydreaming Images

There is lots of work to do here - lots more images to upload and sort through. Of course I am still working out my notice with Getty (3 months) so any images I had licensed with them I can't upload to my new site till October 1st.

The main benefits of this for me are:

I decide what images I want to sell and they don't need to be "approved" by anyone
I can choose what prices I sell them for
I can set the licensing terms - RF or RM
I get to keep 91% of the profits - Photoshelter take only a reasonable 9%

I know Getty are a very large famous stock photography company but this is something I have to do. It's now up to me to get myself out there and promote my work! I'm very excited about this and  it is still very early days. My new site only went live on Wednesday. This has not been a hasty decision on my part - I've been chewing it over and planning things for many months.

Do take a look at the new site if you have a few minutes.

Beautiful Highland Scenery

More beautiful scenery from my trip to the Scottish Highlands

Long And Winding Road

This is a view from the A835 to Ullapool on the west coast of the Highlands.
The scenery is stunning.
A beautiful view round every corner....
We were stopping every 5 minutes nearly for photo opportunities...

This attractive stretch of water is also just off the A835 in the Highlands.
We discovered it quite by accident... it's in Strathgarve Forest

Please visit my new blog if you have a few minutes...
Make yourself a cup of coffee and head off to JUST PHOTOGRAPHY
Then just sit back and enjoy the photos...

Daydreaming Images

I have created a new blog... it is called Daydreaming Images. I will still keep this blog Evelyn Flint Photography open and updated.

I have created this blog to simply showcase some of my photography work. This site is all about just photography - that means there will be no write ups, waffle, explanations, tutorials, or comments.

I really hope you find something you like there and maybe something inspirational. So just sit back, relax and enjoy the photography...

Sketchbook Pages

This is the sketchbook I have been working on for most of this year. It is finally nearing completion ~ only a few pages left to fill! This sketchbook marks the beginning of an artistic journey for me. This is the first time I've picked up a paint brush ~ in an artistic way ~ in around 40 years! (I was still at Primary School - so that's given my age away!) I've just been experimenting with different paint techniques, surface texture, collage, oil pastels, mixed media, mixing colours etc.

Here on my blog and on my Flickr page I'm sharing a few pages from this sketchbook. They may not be perfect but I'm not too worried about that. And some bits of my sketchbook I like more than others... but anyway that's enough waffling from me here's the first few pictures of my sketchbook pages, they're not in page order:

Sketchbook 2
Creating a cracked effect with PVA glue

Sketchbook 3
Creating surface texture with very thick bleach which I called "The Bleach Experiment"

Sketchbook 4
A close up view of The Bleach Experiment.

That's all for now ~ I will post more pics from this sketchbook in future posts. I'm enjoying my little artistic journey, I'm learning lots and like experimenting. I will certainly begin another sketchbook almost straight away when this one is complete!

Enjoy a brief tour of the lovely little fishing village of Mousehole on the southern tip of Cornwall, UK. Just for the record Mousehole is pronounced "Mowzel" by the Cornish people!

 Mousehole View

This a view of the village and harbour, looking down from the high ground surrounding the village.

In the village there lots of very narrow streets and old characterful buildings.
Down this particular street there are lots of galleries.

There are also lots of little shops and cafes:

The little harbour is very beautiful and picturesque:
